Ron D. Hansen, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Hansen grew up on a farm near Colby, Kansas. He completed his undergraduate studies at Kansas State University. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Life Science from K-State, he received a Kansas Board of Regents scholarship to attend optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry. Dr. Hansen received the Matocha Ullman Excellence in Optics award while at Houston and completed his clinical externship at Evans Army Hospital, Ft. Carson, Colorado.
Dr. Hansen joined in practice with Dr. Douglas E. Ball in 1990. In addition to continuously delivering excellence in eye care for his patients, Dr. Hansen has offered his commitment to his profession and his community. He has served on numerous local boards and committees, including Breakfast Optimist Club, Rotary Club, United Way, HCC Endowment Association, and the NJCAA Basketball Tournament. Dr. Hansen has been elected to the board of directors of the Kansas Optometric Association, where he has served as President. He is a previous recipient of both the Kansas Optometric Association Young Optometrist of the Year award and the Optometrist of the Year. He has presented continuing education lectures to numerous school nurse and paraoptometric groups. Dr. Hansen has been accepted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Dr. Hansen currently serves on the board of directors of the Heart of America Eye Care Congress. He and his wife, Traci, have three grown children. He enjoys hiking, kayaking, sports, woodworking, and time with his family.
